Pietrabuona - Le Calde

This agriturismo is beautifully situated on a hill, in the middle of nature with views on chestnut and olive trees. It comprises two houses: Casa Grande and Casa Piccola. The houses are situated in such a way, that apart from the many shadow spots, you can enjoy the sun the whole day. Between the two houses you will find the swimmingpool with garden furniture and a solar shower with hot and cold water. Do you like walking? From Le Calde you step directly into nature to walk down a trail into the valley towards the river 'Rio dell'Asino' or to a little village nearby, like Malocchio f.e.

About the surroundings

For the basic needs of life, you can do shopping at Pietrabuona. This village is also part of the ten early medieval villages known as the Dieci Castella Villages which are situated along the valleys of the Torbola and Forfora. Recently, in order to conserve its historical character, the whole region was designated protected area and therefore no new building construction is allowed. The landscape is outstandingly beautiful, with hills and mountains densely wooded with chestnut and pine, olive groves and fruit trees. As well as asphalt roads, all these villages are connected by footpaths for walking holidays and have all been clearly charted by the 'Valleriana Trekking'. The height of this mountain landscape varies from 100 m to the Battifolle at 1106 m and is known as the 'Valdinievole'in the province of Pistoia and in the heart of Tuscany. Down in the valley (6 km) is Pescia. There is a ski-resort in Abetone (60km) and there are beach-resorts at Viareggio and Lido di Camaiore (40km). Nearer at hand is the walled city of Lucca and the thermal bath/spa centre Montecatini Terme, which also offers an 18-hole golf course. Within easy reach, too, there are several swimming pools, tennis courts, pony trekking and many excellent and inexpensive restaurants specialising in regional dishes and good wines.

How to get there

Le Calde is at a distance of 10 min. from Pietrabuona and 20 min. from Pescia. Travelling time by car or train from Pescia to Florence or Pisa is plm. 1 hour. Both cities have an international airport and possibilities of carrental.
